Are apprentices getting worse or is it just the one I've been lumbered with.
Told him to replace a batten holder in the bathroom earlier,he comes up to me half hour later saying he's done so I send him off to pop some lamps into empty house we tested earlier.
After finishing replacing various fitting in house myself go to energise and nothing happens.
Check db for power goin out of mcb that's fine and go to batten holder he put up and he's snipped away the feeds time to rip my hair out

Considering the wheel had just gone into production and most of you were still sat around the fire wondering how in got there in the first place, girlfriends and distractions probably weren't such a problem......

On the bright side they do know how to put a yellow jacket on and how to climb a ladder. One day someone will work out its time the colleges taught them what to do with a screwdriver. Assuming the college tutors know that is.

I had a new apprentice out with me yesterday while I was doing an EICR...tested the Zdb at a sub mains panel with a megger 1720 then left it back down as batteries died. Lifted reserve fluke meter (no spare batteries). Tested lighting circuit with fluke meter. For the duration of the day (and week) the apprentice referred to the megger as a 'sub mains tester' and the fluke as a 'lighting tester'...never heard the like of it! hes got his AM2 in 6 months too, he should do well...

should have given him a squirt with the IR tester, then told him it's a sub-normal tester.

But Wade, we understand how and why the wheel works.

You on the other hand can’t grasp the basics. I’ll not trouble everyone with a litany of you’re recent posts.

In my day,1960 to '65 as an app. an apprentice was not allowed to work without supervision untill 18. What is an apprenticeship nowadays,3weeks at college then 6months on the tools? The boss did illegally send me out wiring petrol stations at 19 however, we loved it because we had gained so much knowledge working with so many different sparks we learnt a lot.
