Glennsparks thread about his van getting robbed got me thinking.
Are our addresses stored on this site? I can't even remember if I had to give my address to join.

What worries me is the fact that on many occasions we sit in here comparing what tools we have got or just bought, we even declare what models and makes of testers we own etc.
We also declare what vans we own and what security we have fitted, couple that with the electricians directory that we all fill in giving our company names that must be easy enough to find on yell etc.

Have I got a point or am I just being paranoid after Glenn's post.
Ps I spoke to Glenn last night before going to bed, and it has knocked his duck off naturally but god help em if he gets hold of them.

Think it's more to do with the fact that we drive vans, one van I had was had lots of nice signs all over it telling every one wot I do, that one got done 6 times most time it was daylight when working or picking up supply's lost a lot tools.
The best one was stopped at tesco to buy beer for my birthday party that night was in the shop for about 10 min when I got back to van it was empty no tools left at all I had parked it under a cam but hr tesco said it was not working?
When I put a ad in paper or on net will not put address , or home phone number( I work from home) it might stop me getting work from some people but as most I do is from wold of mouth it been ok doing this,, over the last 20 years working have had about ÂŁ20,000 tools walking from vans and site and once my home, but it not just the tools it also wote they do to the van and the money it cost to fix them

Bloody hell Egg whats your middle name "Lucky"

When my van got done in London , I was told that if your van is sign written it gets spotted when your on the road , you then get followed to ether where your working or your home , they then ask around who wants any tools and return do your van and get rid of your tools the same day , I only use magnetic signs now but its still a target..

Scum bags robbing a man's tools to earn a living, vans should come with deadlocks and pressure switches on all doors as standard, it makes me sick when I hear about people's tools being robbed. I had it done on a small site I was on, only 6 new build houses, all fenced off, went to get my dinner came back 5 mins later and my dewalt drill had gone walkies. There were only me, 6 brickie, 2 plasterer, 2 labourers and a security guard onsite but they all said they hadn't seen a thing.

I would be demanding to see inside the security guard's car boot.

I used to do work at Earls Court and Olympia in London where they had their own security guards and you were more at risk from having your stuff nicked by them than anybody else.
