I think this was the same guy SRE was referring to who said he'd installed 10 panels in 55 minutes so he might be prone to exaggeration.... But, maybe he was telling the truth on both counts.
That's how I understood it - SRE can confirm. Seemed quite proud of the achievement. Said the electrician was standing there gobsmacked as they waved goodbye and disappeared down the road.
I can confirm I think he thought we were lazy for not being able to do it as quick! Actually now that I think about it they also pulled the solar limpet to bits saying it wouldn't meet the new standards but were clueless that it applied to roof kit and their Hilti system wouldn't meet the criteria.
We've installed literally hundreds of the limpets - even did a 30kWp job with them, never had a single one break during installation - and we did that 30kWp job this time last year when it was -15°C on site. What we do have though is three broken ones that were in the bottom of the box when dropped out of the delivery truck 1.2m (4' in old terms) to the floor at that temperature.
We also do visual inspections every 6 months on those sites and not come across an installed problem yet.
p.s. you will need bucket loads of 7mm drill bits if the tiles are tough.
Going for a couple of days. Quite a few product developments to see plus some useful conference sessions. A lot of folk to catch up with. Andy at Sibert's stand a good place to meet up.
Will be there. Should be loads to see especially on storage. Quire a number of interesting seminars as well.
Going to Dinner on first night as shortlisted in awards.
Please come to the joint STA/SolarPower Europe Networking Reception between 17.00 and 19.00 on the 14th at the Enphase Energy Cafe.
Despite FITs review, solar is not going away.
