Discuss Asbestos Flash Guards in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

First off, Read the OP!! I think you'll find the OP is there to undertake an EICR, not to undertake any remedial works. If after he has submitted this report, they ask him to effect repairs etc, then you can start talking about removal and bagging, ....But not before i think!!!

Dear me is this what it has come to you can't pull a fuse in case it releases asbestos fibres?come on ,you will have more problems getting the carriers out of the holders than anything else.if it is a concern wear a mask.if u need the work I wouldn't let the fact the install has asbestos shields bother u at all.i am very aware of the dangers of asbestos.it has been hyped up as such a killer that you would think you would melt on contact with it tho.a far more pressing concern is the crap standard of pir inspections with made up results and poor knowledge of how it should be done IMO.

Hello
Had this before but not on this scale. Just old domestic BIL boards luckly my brother in law is a manager of a company which deals in the checking and removal of asbestos. He told me that the flash gaurds in these old boards are no danger as long as they are not disturbed to the extent of tearing , pulling out fuse carriers will not be of concern. If you remove the board for up grading wear a mask double bag and dispose of correctly.
