I'm being straight here. Go with Napit. You do not have to inform Building Control when you do your assessment install as Napit will pass it off for you after a successful assessment. Napit are £576 all in. That covers you for PIR's aswell.

You can save yourself a few bob here and get in with an excellent scheme.

ok sounds good, i give them a call what was your assessment like im bricking it

Assessment is fine mate. The guys are really good. They want you to pass as it keeps them in a job. If you know your testing you will be fine. Obviously research all the schemes, you will know which one suits you best. £576 all in for PIR'S aswell is a great deal mate.

You have 21 days to notify the work from completion (via your scheme). So there is no need to notify before hand (if you're confident of passing) which ever scheme you choose.

well i dont have my 2391 yet ive just done my domestic installer, so PIRS i cant do can i ? a lot of people saying you have to have a risk assessment in place, and so on what do they want to see all in all

They want to see if you are competent. They will send you a pack out and a list of things you need. Such as waste disposal policy etc....You can still do a PIR without the 2391 but NAPIT want to see it gained within 12 months

Yes, most schemes will want 2391 for doing PIR's (and rightly so). However, there is nothing stopping you (legally) from doing an inspection report. However (again) most organisations will not accept it as valid (insurance companies etc) AND if there was a problem that occurred (fire etc) after your PIR how would it stand up in court (how would you prove your competence).

hopefully i should have it within 12 months, im fine with my testing, i just dont want forget anything like risk assessment waste management, little things like that, il ring round to find which ones best

Do the 2392? Practical exam and then a 50 question multi choice test, saves having to show your assesor that you can do each test.....great stepping stone to prepare you for 2391?

Also niceic offer a good scheme if you are just doing installs, it's the domestic installer scheme £430 including vat!

Napit is a great scheme though for the all in package, got my price list through if I wanted to do pirs with nic and it's pretty expensive!

Well napit is calling your name out, you don't need to tell them you are going to do PIRs they only have one scheme so just ask for a assesment show them your board (need at least one new circuit running off it) then pass your in, do PIRs then you will have you annual visit he/she asks what you have been doing you show them, at this point they will say if you are doing PIR then they ask you to do the 2391 in 12 months so infact you have 2 years to get the 2391.....

Another little secret because you have the 2392 which is fundamental testing and inspection, if your assessor asks you to get the 2391 you can tell him "no I have a testing and inspection cert" you do not need 2391 to inspect.....although the assesor may get abit funny with you if you tell him to **** off!! But the appeal would stand up no problem.

The source I got that from was a top dog from the nic, worked for city & guilds, has there name in ba7671 and has the nose stuck into the testing exams.
