hi there im looking to do my first assessment with elecsa, ive just qualified, to do your first big job ie fuse board up grade, you have to let building control no which cost £150 plus vat then you have to pay for the assessment which is £444 then you have to let the suppler no because of anti tamp tags, is that right?if so what a nightmare cos im doing this for a mate im not charging for the fuse board change, any help would be great thanks

There is a lot more to testing and inspecting than the C&G 2392 covers. The C&G 2392 is only a subset of 2391 and is targeted at domestic fundamental testing and inspecting (IE when you install the (single phase) circuits yourself). It is not intended for testing other peoples work (which is what a PIR will probably involve) where a lot more skill may be needed. IE how to code defects encountered etc. Particularly as PIR work covers a lot more than just domestic. Industrial (and even commercial) is a lot more involved.

Remember with fundamental inspecting and testing, you don't allow any failures (you should either not find any, or, you fix them if found). With a PIR it's a different ball game. :)

Oooo yer don't get me wrong I am all for the 2391 I was just stressing that you have 2 years before you could be expected to have it!

I am not yet but what I am doing, I have re joined niceic as domestic installer and as I classes as member with them napit offer cheaper membership fee as a swap over deal so it will work out costing me a extra £200 to be member of both but alot of people recognise the NICEIC over napit so I have that as a selling tool, this will give me 12months to try get re established..... Fingers crossed anyway!

Good luck with your assesment.
