Hi Everyone

Not sure if I'm posting in the correct Forum!

I carry out maintenance at a Caravan Site, the site has an automatic barrier, I've never had reason to bother with it in the past as its never caused any problem!

Anyway, the barrier stopped working completely. (it works by swiping a card over a reader, barrier goes up, car goes through, barrier comes back down)
Did a little investigating work and soon found that the Inverter was at fault.

The Inverter fitted was the Telemachenique Altivar08, spoke to our wholesaler, who advised that Telemachenique had been bought out by Schneider, and a direct replacement would be sent...

Schneider ATV12H075M2

I've swapped it over, gone through the settings as per barrier operations manual, and come across a slight problem..... The barrier will go up on the swipe of the card, but will not come down again!

If I run the inverter manually, the barrier happily runs up and down without a problem.

Any advice would be appreciated
 
What kind of barrier is it?

If the barrier is not coming down it sounds like it will be the safety circuit, the loop detector you mentioned will be used to stop the narrower coming down if it detects a vehicle over it, or to make the barrier come down when a vehicle drives over then off it, what are the connections and cables going into the loop detector?
 
As the drive are not exact matches then I suspect the assigned drive terminal inputs could also be wrong if you have copied the old drive set-up or have you programmed it using the barrier manual to ID the cables going to the drive control inputs. Like Tazz says, it could be the control assignment for the inputs that doesn't match although you get open command it is possible it is receiving the close but doesn't recognise it as such.

This is why you need to establish if you are getting that close signal,

So I've checked the cables. The close signal is being sent, so it must be something in the Inverters menu I am missing.
It only has 3 wires connected.

The +24V supply
LI1 and LI2

LI1 starts the inverter to raise the barrier. A timer kicks in, and then a 24V supply is sent to LI2 which is then supposed to start the inverter again to lower the barrier. The 24V to LI2 is there but the inverter isn't recognising this. I'm reading through the inverter guide but it doenst make a great deal of sense to me!

This drive doesn't have a reverse assigned when factory set, you have to do it yourself so check the link out and follow the instructions, if you have problems then ring the tech help line and explain your new to their drives and you just need to assign LI2 for reverse and they will step guide you through it. TBH this is an over-complicated drive for your barrier, a cheaper recognised basic drive would have been sufficient IMHO and 1min to set up even for a beginner.

Yeah I thought it was a little complex for what it does! But it was just a like for like swap for what was fitted by the manufacturer so I stuck with it!

I found it strange that it happily raises and lowers when I set it off manually

I'll give that a go in the morning! Thanks

Once you said you had your 24v signal I checked the drive manual for you, its a matter of experience tbh, took me 2mins to find it and also read about the reverse isn't assigned from factory.
You need to be careful when taking on work with drives involved, even what seem to be simple set ups can be problematic and more indepth, on this occassion its seems the drive itself is one that comes with only LI 1 assigned and isn't immediately obvious until you dig deep into the destruction book.

I did find the reversing section, but shied away from it when the barrier raised and lowered when I set it off manually, I got to thinking that there must be something else!

Anyway, hopefully it'll be straightforward enough tomorrow!

The commands usually originate as a digital input common from the drive going to the various ancillary devices(usually normally open)and being switched to give an input back onto the drive to initiate the command
It is usually possible to identify the common and temporary link it to any input to simulate that command(providing that parameter has been programmed)
The documentation will usually identify the function of each input

Using the manual options negates the actual terminal control and isn't a sign of the drive is set up correctly- treat it like an over-ride all it will do will prove your motor runs.
