Aye or Naw? Trimming RCBO Leads

I was always taught never to trim RCBO leads. I noticed on another thread the other day/earlier on that someone said they did.
What’s the general consensus on the subject? The reasons explained to me as to why we shouldn’t cut them were the RCBO was calibrated with that length of cable on so it shouldn’t be changed (I suspect this is a load of crap) and because it’s flexible cable and terminated with a ferrule or tinned it shouldnt be cut because it would make the connection worse. To this day I’ve never chopped one RCBO lead. I just usually loose the extra length neatly inside the enclosure. Obviously if the Manufacturers instructions say don’t cut then we shouldnt be cutting them, end of.
Thoughts?

I take it though some of the RCBO leads would be bigger than 6mm? Haircut time for you?

if it don't fit in the crimp tool. it fits under the hammer.

Of course, you get different types of squishing...
Tel, that looks like it produces a square profile?
Good for some terminals, for sure, especially those where a plate is pushed down by the screw, but the octagonal ones are nearer to round, and the "normal" ones have a good all-type profile which suits the main shape of terminals which are rounded at the bottom and the screw sits squarely on the dimpled side

Of course, the uninsulated, small ones are excellent for refurbishing your actual frayed boot laces...

I tend to use blade crimps, for this and other applications. Any reason I should move to bootlace style crimps, as that tends to be the popular choice ?

I contacted Hager technical support once and they said that it was fine to cut or even extend the fly leads providing it was the same csa.

I use both, depending what I've got with me at the time.
Either way is better than twisting and doubling over, which, apparently, is perfectably acceptable

I use the same type as telectrix. Cheap and cheerful but does the job. Been using for a while and still does a good job. At that price when it does go t*ts up or I loose them I can just buy another.

I got a tray of non insulated ferrules. Use them on all flex connections, especially handy when doing ch wiring centres. Pretty sure time taken to put ferrule on is countered by much quicker termination.
Biggest fly lead I've encountered on rcbo so far is 4mm, but only had a need to fit rcbos upto 32A.
