I am in the middle of a kitchen install.the guy had already bought the B+Q unit before I priced the job

I have fitted the unit and it scores high marks for the cheapie category
It has plenty of room and it was excellent for quickly removing the guts of the unit for fiull access
I wont comment on the standard of the rcd etc, because time alone will tell

It doesn't help the pricing of a changeover when these prices are available for Joe bloggs
The customer sees those prices and assume same quality as a descent board

Their wylex price isnt bad either but as said the customer see's those prices and think HOW MUCH TO FIT IT ? mind you i have had a bit more work due to customers seeing them and thinking yer i think i will get that old board changed so swings and roundabouts really luckly i know a woman who works there and is able to pass out my cards but ive had a good responce also by wearing my work branded top and being in the electrical dept luckly at the right time ! Saturday/Sunday seems to see a good responce on card handouts.

the contactum boards are good as well.

Sorry Tel im going to have to say i hate contactum boards unless they have now replaced those stupid doors on the front and fitted a decent bus bar coverive been using sector which are basically wylex been good only gripe is the internal tri rated cable links way to short bit of jiggery pokery and you can make em look nice though

my favorite board has got to be the crabby starbreaker, but cost is usually a put off for most customers. BG are as good as any budget board. have had a couple of wylex casings split when trying to cut out the backplate cable entries.

My local CEF sells the BG boards at £50+VAT the manager said that CEF refused to sell any more BG gear until BG stop supplying B & Q.

I asked why they didn't just match the price and he said they would make a loss!

Be interesting to see who wins!

i bought a BG board last month. 5/5 fully loaded at £65 inc. vat. think the stop supplying sheds is a good idea, but my local b&q is stocked with wylex CUs and MK accessories.

thats interesting B&Q ae 50 quid including the VAT!!!.....!!

i use teh BG accessories all the time and only had a problem with a faulty switch once..! i have also fitted a handful of the Nexus CU as well for cut price jobs with landlords and budget clients.. never had a problem other than a breaker that was bit dodgy and never latched..!

much prefere the MEM units though

National Lighting are doing some cracking deals with the Wylex CU's. I know cos it is next door to Screwfix in Leeds, and i went in cos Screwfix didn't have what i wanted as usual.

What price they got the wylex consumer units down to now?
Been in national lighting a few times
Good place to buy emergency supplies when on a job

i agree crabtree starbreaker are nice units. by the way denmans do a budget 'steeple' board but they are actually made by crabtree :-) not bad units would be interested to see if any of you have used them and what you think?

not too good a price when you add on 4 gallons of diesel though
