Sory for late reply , just been to property .

When at home i wired the prgrmr up to a bit of flex ( plugged in) then tested both switch lives out when prgmr operated. And nothing ,

When links placed ....yep worked fine.

I thought this link had been done internally ......feel bit thick now .... lol

You live & learn something everyday, Some of the potterton programmers needed links between live & terminal 5 (EP series) to feed the switching internally, the old style mini minders were fed internally, also some of the Randall programmers needed links

Never attended the course as I wired heating day in day out for a couple of years but I did download the Honeywell app the other day which is quite good if your struggling with a fault

C plan now you are going back a bit this used to be what was known as a hot water priority system the hot water tank had to be satisfied before the central heating came on. The valve itself to the un trained eye looked just like a mid position valve & often lead to a bit of confusion. Just something to watch out for if you ever come across one. i don't think it is used any more. the Y & S are the ones used these days

I have no idea ..... how do i find out/ check this ?

OK ........ the difference between fully pumped and Gravity hot water is the fully pumped system has one pump which by means of a diverter valve or two zone valves will pump water from the boiler to the radiators OR from the boiler to the hot water cylinder or both at the same time.

The Gravity system is where the pump pumps water ONLY to the radiators and gravity is used to heat the hot water cylinder.

The easiest way to identify which is which is to look at the pipework between the hot water cylinder and the boiler. If it's 28mm diameter, there's a very good chance that it's a Gravity system.

If it's all 22mm pipework then it's probably a fully pumped system.

No valves, no hassle!


Until I start altering one then you'll have a 18" X 12" control panel stuffed full of relays under the stairs.
