Yes, thank goodness we almost never use plaster depth boxes now unless it is unavoidable. We also use far less dimmers, which is even better news!

Yes, just swap them for 25mm.
With these modern days with lots more connections at the switch box, particularly neutrals,deeper box has become the norm.

Some dimmers used to come with a white plastic extension ring for just this kind of situation.

Oh yeah, however the alternative at the time was either surface box or severe hammer rash as you tried to recess the brick using a rawldrill/star-chisel - almost guaranteed it would be the only brick in the wall where they had used an engineering brick!

Last time I had that all the plaster fell off the whole wall, but as it was a kitchen, put up a row of tall wall cupboards, didn't have to chase for any cables.

As Dave says get the the 1 gang extension collar(MK).S.

The main problem was the plaster had lifted completely off the wall, so an extension collar would have been the only thing keeping the plaster in contact with the blockwork.

Never understood why folk want a dimmer - a device which provides dark, dingy or bright enough. We have one in my wife's craft room only because she bribed the electrician during building works to ignore me with his favourite coffee cake while I was out one day - even so it is only ever used in two modes - off and bright enough.

When dimmers 1st came out I did wonder if the lamps would last longer - being soft started with them.
(then the question became if the dimmer would outlive a cheap lamp !)

Some of us like unspeakable things that are best done under dark dingy condition. Just saying...
