Hi everyone,

Im new to the world of forums, so please bare with me.

In 2004 I finished my studying to become an electrician, I was fully qualified to the 16th edition and Part P. Since then i have been unable to physically do any of the work due to illness.

I am now in a position to start this as a career however, I am very unconfident as i have forgot most of the theory aspect. I know i need to take a course to update myself to the 17th edition and c&g 2394&5 inspection and testing to get me up to speed.

I have a few questions:

I am wanting to join a competent person scheme.

Will these courses be adequate?

I know people will have mixed opinions but which scheme is best to join as a beginner NICEIC, Napit or Elecsa?

I have been doing some electrical work and have had a guy certifying my work but he's now retiring, If i was to join a scheme as a domestic installer, can I give domestic periodic inspection reports? (Landlord certificates)
I have checked and i'm a bit confused if a domestic installer can do this or does it have to be an approved contractor?

I appreciate all genuine replies if you need to know more let me know

Ommar
