Hi everyone I would appreciate your thoughts on this one.

I had a call from a customer who has recently purchased a house & the cooker hood extractor fan has given up.

So we agreed on a time when I could pop around and have a look.

Right at the end of the conversation he asked me if it would be ok to back date the invoice e.t.c a couple of weeks so he can get the previous owner to reimburse him for whatever it will cost for me to fix it.

Maybe I'm being silly, but something set an alarm bell off in my head for some reason.

What does everyone think?

Big no,no if he's willing to drop someone else in the cart you could very well be next, either do it the correct way or run for the hills

It was the part about getting the previous owner to reimburse that I didn't like.
That's between those two. You could make a note on the invoice as to when the problem was reported to you and quoted for I suppose.

I initially thought the customer was asking you to backdate the invoice to before there was a problem with the equipment.
