I bought a batch of small white circular (loop-in type ) JBs and seem to be having issues with a fair number of them - usually when I'm stuck in a cramped loft space or on top of a step, trying to connect cables hanging out of ceiling.

These JBs have 'MLA' on the back.

The most common problem is one of the little grub screws comes lose when you try to apply so much as feather light torque - and usually the last one, when I've just got the other conductors in place.

Just me? Or is anyone else finding this?

(And I'm not a big fan of the Ashley 'maintenance-free' type that requires the dexterity of a brain surgeon!)

I use wagos a fair amount too, but had limited space here for the standard wago enclosure.

Just out of interest, what sort of enclosure do you use with your wago connectors?

thanks!

If its for downlights or just extending a cable i use the choc box, its smaller the the Wago Box and has enough room to fit them in.

Those JBs you posted about, where did you get them from? One of the last ones I used was from Screwfix and was very cheaply made.

screwfix jb are useless, never would i touch one again, the 30 A ones are so small and cheap you struggle to connect 3 x 1.5 mm T/E cables , 3 x 2.5 mm cables? no hope

Not much help for you mate but I recently discovered the Wago & Adaptable box combo and love it. Doing a periodic on a rented property and kept getting very bad results, ended up with the inspection camera and found 9 very badly made off (and incorrectly made off earth) joint boxes under the floors and one inside a stud wall????

i had the same problem with toolstation jb's, dont have the problem now as i get them from a local electrical wholesaler, slightly more expensive but i know they wont cross thread or crack when tightening up.
