bad switch or unkown fault

D

DurhamSparky

after installing and commissioning a new lighting circuit i have been called back twice now to replace a switch (same one)

it works perfect than after a few days of use it will turn on and after prolonged use it wont turn off (the rocker moves but thats all)

it powers 1x 36W fitting.

i have today changed it for a crab tree switch to see if that is any better...! might have picked up a dodgy batch from wholesalers possibly???

what do you chaps think!??

anychance of moistoure getting into the switch?
ive had it before when you take the front of the switch off its bone dry inside but moistore was getting in the actual switch

dont worry they are in the naughty corner of my van ready to be dropped off at wholesaler monday!!

I’d send them direct to the manufacturer. The wholesaler is likely to just chuck them in the bin and give a couple of new ones. The manufacturer is likely to be a bit more generous. I had a problem with some rolls of Kodak film a few years ago, they gave me over £500 worth of film in recompense. I know film is different to switches but a manufacturer will protect their reputation. Just don’t let them know you’ve put it on the web.
