Done first fix on lighting.

customer wants a neon on light switch to show light is on in room to remind to turn of.

unfortunately I’ve done a wiring centre job.

permanent L &N to wiring centre.

One twin and earth to light point

and one twin and earth to switch.

cannot instal extra cables at this point.

can I put a neon in parallel when the switch is activated?

Thanks SC. just been down to sort.

It’s the local church. really nice people. I admitted id messed up. They are fine to leave as is. I’m going to fit a light switch that has a red coating on top of switch to show when it’s on.

one of the members even said you will see the light on under the door if left on anyway.

Can’t believe I even contemplated the neon in parallel. Feel a bit stupid for even mentioning that. Of course it’s going to let current/through when it’s switched off. I’d have even deserved the dumb Imogi if it still existed for that one.

If both you and the client are prepared to accept modified switch plates you could slip one of these CTs over the switched line and locate the LED on the surface of the switchplate. I have taken switchplates and drilled a hole in the front for the LED. All nice and safe because the LED supply is parasitic.

Look at the link. I know this one flashes but there are also ones which I have used which are steady and are either on or off.

That’s pretty cool. May try it.

Supply them with door wedges this way they can use their flaming eye and see the light is on, make you wonder how some people make it through the day..

Please tell me this isn't some care home for disadvantaged kid?

Not so daft really and indeed sold by MK to help folk find the switch and I suppose provide a glow to faintly illuminate the room and where the door is.

I've got a similar thing in my loft for the light. It's a switch with built in neon glow around it, but it lights up just around the rocker rather than the whole plate. Bought it 20+ years ago. Can't remember the brand but may well take the face plate off and have a look out of interest.
