Just failed to properly secure the three screws of the very nice 1980's almost flush round glass fitting that landed on my head, bounced into the bath and shattered!

Having looked at 21st century offerings online I cant see a single fitting that would match the 100watt we had, where the bulb can be replaced seperately to the whole unit.

So a simple bulb replacement becomes a ÂŁ20+ new unit. Does anyone have any good sources?

wow the weight on the round glass is a lot ,most light fitting now are led included or i should say built in ,if in a bathroom then a ip rated one would be required .
most customers of mine go to the big orange house. plus its down to the customers own preferences .

Yes it did draw a bit of blood, luckily it didnt shatter until it hit the bath.
Ideally I would be looking for an 18watt LED bulb, 4000K, in a fitting, this would then be the closest to match the 100watt original - and the bulb could be changed -but it seems the trend is definitely towards a complete 'throwaway' LED unit

excellent progression for Yorkshire, 5 years after getting electricity, soon got onto LEDs. :):)

Yes we are just over the border from Lancashire -so things go quicker here.
Does nobody agree that the whole integrated LED thing v's a replaceable bulb is not the way we should be going?
thing is. integrated LED fittings are so reliable these days, they last for a few years and more important. they prevent morons from fitting the wrong lamps, and give us sods work in replacing them when they eventually fail or go out of fashion.

Well I wouldnt mind an LED bulb that could be replaced, but in the end I have favoured Amazon with an order - for one with integrated LED's!
Said to be 30000 hours - if true, it will last me out....
