Bathroom extractor fan hole cutting.

Hi folks

I wanted to install an extractor fan in my bathroom. I'm unsure about drilling a hole in the wall incase I wreck the bathroom tiles. I'm adding a photo that I have taken.

If anyone has carried out this task without damaging the tiles, please can you tell me which tool bit you used.

Thanks

strat with a 6mm tile/glass drill bit to make a pilot hole for a 4" core drill. then core it out.

There is a loft conversion above so I think that one is a no go.

Whilst on a 2nd fix job a couple of years ago with my dads mate, he drilled the hole for the extractor fan only for him to run into a solid iron beam.

Just remember your bathroom zones, and if it has a run-on timer, don't use the cpc of a T&E as a live.
You are a trainee sparky.... not DIY Dave from the Dog and Duck.

I hope you kept some of those tiles back. ;)

Lol certainly not DIY Dave!!

I'm starting my C&G 2365 Level 2 next week in Barking and Dagenham college.

I'm looking to install it above the toilet which falls into zone 2.

I don't think I have any tiles left as the bathroom was tiled back in 1995.

Go slow (not on hammer) untill your through the tiles, keep the core bit square to the wall, done it loads of times you’ll be fine.....it almost never goes wrongo_O

I used to use a hire core drill bit and clutch drill I usually took one hour to get through a ten inch wall. Bought my own gear it then took twenty minutes. Just shows a new core bit is very good, much better than an old worn out hire one.
