Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a decent manufacturer for bathroom extractor fans and the best place to buy them?

Fitted a CED 100mm one from toolstation about 18 months ago and it is already really noisy!

Going to replace it with a slightly more expensive one.

Thanks

Erm, not sure what you mean there mate. I don't fit ÂŁ15 units unless the customer expressly asks for them.

I mean the clients that want a cheap solution get what they pay for! And I normally get 2 or more visits from them before they work out that paying for a more expensive fan will save money in the long run

I have had a cheap inline 24w manrose fitted in my cellar for a year. It's not quiet but then any fan producing a good airflow might have a quiet motor but the air will be noisy. It's been on permanently so should last for years with the intermittent useage in a bathroom.

Vortice Punto if they want cheap option (2 years on site warranty) cost around ÂŁ12+vat, lineo inline fan if its possible to fit an inline fan (much better option, also 2 years on site warranty).

If you want super cheap option Manrose do a fan that costs all of about ÂŁ5-6+vat!

I have similar. A fcked set of double glazing hinges that ensures the window will not close properly. Trouble is the greeness of no fan is comprimised by extra heating.

Still, I'm willing to pay as long as I don't have to huddle over a paraffin heater like when I was a lad.

Oh yes, I remember those paraffin heaters too they used to stink the whole house out and all your clothing as well.

Mum used to send me to buy paraffin from the hardware shop. I was about 7 years old and think it cost something like a shilling for a gallon.

There were no age restrictions back then and we could - and did - buy cigarettes, fireworks and matches with no questions asked.

No lives were lost but the Boy Scouts meeting hut was mysteriously burned down.
