Recently fitted a Soler & Palau 150mm fan with humidistat in a lower ground floor bathroom (which has a window), for a customer. All working ok when I left. Got a call a few days later from them because the fan is not coming on. Adjusted it a couple of times for them then got it exchanged for another as it appeared to have a fault. However they have had the same problem with the replacement. The customer says the humidistat only works when they take the cover off! I contacted S&P who actually sent someone round and said there was nothing worng with the fan. He took various readings and set the stat for them. Still not working. Has anyone else had a problem with this make and can anyone suggest an alternative. The S&P guy reckons a humidistat may simply not work in their bathroom. Can't see why it wouldn't even come on.

Thoughts?

May not work in their bathroom?? What is it? Open planned with no roof or walls?
Does it get humid in there? Does the fan come on when the light comes on?

Yeah it does sound ridiculous. The switch live works fine, but when the customer pays 100 quid for a fan with humidistat it's fair enough that it should work.

It's the first time I've used this make si wondered if anyone else had encountered problems.

Joking apart, what is the fan spec for the level of humidity at which the fan will kick in. In a bathroom with a window, it may simply be that the relative humidity is not reaching a sufficiently high level. If a bath is run, with the window closed, will the fan still not kick in?

George

I have a humidi-CRAP in my bathroom (VA100). I noticed that it was a little dicky when I first installed it and it turned out that I had secured the cover too tight.

I think these things are more effort than they're worth to be honest, great when they're working but seem to be problematic :(

The current issue I have with the VA is it used to gradually open, now it sticks and all of a sudden opens and doesn't close completely. This is due to the operation of the little roddy type thingy ma bobby inside that operates the ougie ma flippy lol

I've turned the shower on and the room steams up quite quickly. The fan has a setting from 50% to 90% relative humidity. It does work as I have had it running. However on a day to day basis...

I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this problem with this make and whether simply buying another brand will solve it.
