Tanks for the reply i didnt think of the rcd spur units would those be ok inside the bathroom or do they have to be located outside the bathroom

I have no trouble installing a RCD protected socket outlet in a bathroom if located sensibly, same goes for a RCD-FCU. But then i don't go into an uncontrolled panic whenever a bathroom is mentioned!! Steam shouldn't be a problem, all bathrooms/shower rooms nowadays should be provided with a suitable sized extract fan....
 
Nothing wrong with a SFCU in a bathroom, provided it's outside zones. If you're that worried about steam getting inside, then you wouldn't have a fan heater in that position to begin with...
 
Like for like, just change it as long as it complied at the time of original install. If in doubt, RCD spur or RCBO at the board.
