I'm needing to replace a bathroom fan that is mounted on the ceiling. Measuring from the floor its classed as outside of zones, 2.36m but for some reason the bath has been raised, so when stood in the bath its less than 2.25, bringing it back into zone 1.

Regs state IPx4 can be used in zone but must be IPx5 if jets are used. Whats classed as a jet? Would the shower be.

Does anyone know of a main voltage fan that would fit in this position.

The fan fitted at the moment is rated at IPx2:eek:

Zone 1 is measured from the finished floor level to a height of 2.25m or the horizontal plane of the highest shower head, whichever is higher. Zone 1 also includes the underneath of the bath.

The height of the bath is irrelevant. You will find that most baths are raised off the floor.

Have a read of the description of Zone 1 on page 165

So whats classed as ajet then? Is the shower in normal used considered to be a jet?

Its outside of zone 1 but dont think ipx4 is enough protection

I always use inline fans mounted in the loft these days. I have found the ceiling mounted ones don't provide sufficient extraction rates to cope with the requirements of a bathroom

Same here when instaalling myself, but this is a landlord replacement. No access to ceiling void as its a flat. Ducting is all galvenised installed when the were built.
