Hi it's been a long time since I have done any domestic work. Fitting a bathroom fan with overrun timer on. The perm, sl and n all need to go through the fan isolator.
The feed on the local lighting circuit is at the bathroom switch outside the bathroom. Is it ok to take it from there to the 3 pole fan isolator.from the isolator to the fan.

yes, but remember you need to fit RCD protection if not already existing, and take account of fan manufacturer's instructions. e.g. 3A fuse if specified.

Ok so if I need to fuse it down with a 3a sfcu and this needs to go in the circuit. How do you wire the l and sl through a fcu. It only has L n and e.

you may find that manufacturers instructions specify only the perm. L to be fused @3A. it's all a bloody joke. as if a 3A fuse will stop a faulty fan catching fire.

Switched fused spur outside the bathroom next to the triple pole isolator which becomes your wiring centre. Grab a pencil and a bit of paper and draw it out. It's easier than you might think mate.

I've been thinking about this in some detail and I'm confused and wondering if you can tell me if there is a difference between wiring a fan with an overrun timer in a domestic situation to wiring the same fan in a commercial or industrial situation?? .:vanish:

One good thing about an FCU, is that you can get a proper padlock on it, instead of the crappy lock off on the big switch 3Ps.

(If one is keen on safe isolation :) )
