hey all im after some advice on bathroom lights, im after 4 chrome ceiling lights for my bathroom what are better 240v or low voltage, also do i not put my loft lagging over the lights. please advice.
Thank you.

240 volts i think are better, make sure they comply to part p and part f for the buildings regs, will prob cost about 10.00 - 15.00 quid each you need to make sure there is enough space around the top of the light in the loft, also as it is an alteration to a special location it is subject to labc notification if you are not a member of a scheme, and also you will prob have to fit an rcbo if the current circuit is not rcd protected or up grade it hope this helps need any more help just ask or pm me

The bathroom is broken down into electrical zones. The zone that each light is situated in will determine what type of light can be installed. You could find the dimensions and classifications of these zones online.

I take it you are talking about downlighters to be fitted in your bathroom. I would always fit fire rated, low voltage fittings in the bathroom.

Get some quotes from your local electricians, doing it yourself is not recommended! Hope this helps anyway.

Right my friend , i agree 230 volt fire rated ,but with IP65 rating , the fire rating is not the back of the light but the fire resistance of the ceiling that you have cut the hole through , you can get a down lighter that is capped F rated this you can cover with insulation also to reduce the heat get the flourescent version take a bit to warm up but alot less heat ,this work i will point out will be notifiable under part P and would also say as its a special location the lights should be RCD protected
