battery chargers keep blowing?

Hi all, saw my brother over Xmas and he has a problem with battery chargers fusing out when he turns them on, now blown 3 different ones. All other things work ok.
Any suggestions would be helpfull before i call round to look, thanks in advance.

What type of charger ?
type of battery you are trying to recharge ?

Could be anything. What kind of chargers are we talking? Car Battery ones or ones for tools?

Sorry guys should have said, car battery chargers and its the fuse in the charger not the plug that blows?

Always when charging the same battery?

Dont take this the wrong way but this happens when the polarity is the wrong way round so you will need to check other than that it could be a faulty battery.

PS make sure the charger is on trickle charge and not boost plus check the fuse is the correct size the one on mine is 15 amps but they all differ

Not sure, it was difficult talking over a hetic xmas dinner table but will find out, never thought of that, blame the drink for that.

Hi thanks for that, polarity was my first thought so lent him my socket tester and all sockets where fine, i think all the charges were brand new so fuses should be fine, will check with him if it always happens on the same battery and come back.

Think the polarity issue was meant for the battery being charged and is the battery disconnected?

crossed cables on battery, not mains polarity, is probably the issue here, either that or knackered batteries
