Hello guys, I am currently a self-employed taxi driver in Glasgow and have been working nightshifts for the last 8 years.
I am looking for a career change.
Is there any realistic route for me to study / train around my current job to become a qualified electrician? If so, what are my options?
I know this is not likely to be easy but I am a very determined character.
Any advice or information would be appreciated.

Hi

just to jump on the band wagon I would also like to know how you became qualified, at 31 I am fortunate to be given the time and some funding to study by the military as I am leaving the RAF, I found this intensive course offered by pgltraining.com, what do people think ? Is it worth it?

Hi ExAirForce

The part p (Domestic installers) If you know the real basics your be able to do in 5 days
The 17th in 5 days no worries
Pat not sure havent done this but should be easy.
2391 i would have thought the 2392 would be better for this route and agree if 2391 you WILL struggle but 2392 you should be fine and is ideal for domestic installers as newish qual for people wanting to test/inspect installations upto and including 100A so ideal for domestic installers.
You will be able to do these courses seperately !
These will be ideal for self employed also but i would still try spending a little time with a spark (not compulsory) but would be beneificial not so much for installs but invaluable for fault finding experience.
Regards
Kung.
Best of luck !
