Just thought I'd post how its far too easy to become a Nest Pro Installer.

All I did was to fill out an online form, no checks or phone calls to confirm who I was or my qualifications & 2 days later I'm a Nest Pro Installer? Really? Surely they would want you to demonstrate it by taking an online install sim for S, Y & Combi but no nothing.

Their website has a In-Depth training page but all it is, is slides about the products & the installation pdf is just https://nest.com/support/images/mis...Nest-Learning-Thermostat-Install-Guide-UK.pdf

To be honest it may be a nice good product but becoming a Nest Pro process is a let down as it doesn't prove your a Pro at all.

I share your bemusement. I too am a NestPro installer, don't do the thermostats but install the cameras. It is as you say fill a form in and wait for the email to confirm you are approved. your details go on the nest website to be found. i have only installed 4 cameras so far but doubt the logo on my stationary makes any difference.
In all honesty i only joined so i could get the discount on a camera for a friend to put in his garage covering his expensive bicycles. so he gets alerts if motion is detected! since then have installed a couple from word of mouth.

It's not massively complicated stuff to install really, so it doesn't really make a lot of sense to vet applicants. It's really just for spreading the brand I reckon. Still from what I've read here it's still harder to join electricfix, maybe they should ask for at least a 17th edition cert.

Anyway, there's government backed schemes for proving competency to wire a thermostat.

The nest pro scheme is a way for nest labs to avoid having to employ or train anyone in fitting or fault-finding their products and also another route to increasing their sales.

I’m a ‘nest pro elite’ installer, which basically means all of my reviews are 5 stars so their computer picked me to be upgraded. What their computer didn’t notice is the reason I have all 5 star reviews is that I only have 1 review from a mate I fitted it for!
