[ElectriciansForums.net] Been trying this for hours and had enough
Please someone make this clearer.

I just can’t for the life of me get my head round following the diagram to form a 90 degree bend.

I have now gone through nearly 4 metres of 50mm trunking and still no joy. I just can’t get my head where to cut. If someone can point to where to cut I am sure I will be fine.

Thanks

Its not very clear at all....
The fold is along the back side, as in the first picture. There is a small triangle taken out the top flap... a large triangle taken out the base and a section removed from the front side. All the angles are at 45 degrees or 90.
The last image throws it off as the bend should fold forward, not backwards as shown.

You can get pre-made bends for trunking

Thanks. Yes its really getting me down TBF, just wish they made these diagrams easy to follow.

I don't think so, I think it is a straight cut as per the double dashed lines in the middle left picture. If you cut a large triangle you could not bolt the bottom together. They turned it around so you can see the flap folded and the square edges overlapping at the bottom. Then you could bolt them together which you could not with a large tri angle at the bottom you would just have two edges meeting.

Richard. Thanks so much for taking the time to do that I really appreciate your help.

So basically the bit coloured in red is to come off and the 3 red lines next to that and the 45 degree V

Yes the red sections outlined in blue are removed; a section of trunking along the side that is as wide as the width of the trunking and the small triangle opposite the centre line. The thick red lines are cuts into the trunking i.e. cut out the section from the side and saw through the base of the trunking at the centre line of the bend.
Then the top and bottom edges of the trunking on the other side of the centre line are removed to create the flap that must be smooth and small enough to allow it to fit inside the trunking and also allow the base of the trunking from the other side of the cut to slide under the flap and over the base.
The base cut edges should also be smoothed out and rounded.
The trunking is then bent at the centre of the cut out triangle so the two halves of the trunking base overlap, when it is folded to 90° then the two edges should meet and the flap that is now inside the bend can be bent round the corner and seal the gap between the cut edge and the back end of the flap.
