Belling Oven fault

Hello All,

I never have a great deal of luck when it comes to domestic appliances! We have a Belling fan oven which when the temperature dial is turned up, immediately blows the 13amp plug fuse, trips the MCB and takes out the RCD for good measure.

I was assuming U/S element so have removed and tested it but it's testing ok, continuity fine, resistance is 32 ohms and it is showing >200 Mohms on IR test.

Given all of the above, can I assume the element is ok?

Any other ideas as to what could be causing the fault? Fan will run fine but as soon as the temp is only slightly turned up, it trips instantly. With 2 young kids to feed, I don't want to waste days ordering parts etc on a wild goose chase only to find its something not worth the repair cost.

Turn it up with the element disconnected and see if it still trips.

Sometimes elements only go faulty when the power is applied.

What is the power rating of the oven

Faulty stat, stat wiring or stat control switch wiring. And as above posts.
Are there any bulges or distortions in the element?

Good morning all,

Spent a few hours checking bits and pieces yesterday and decided to order a new element and give that a go as everything is pointing to the element being the culprit.

Original looked and tested OK. New one arrives this morning so hopefully the kids can be fed as normal tonight.............
