been doing some install work with upvc 20mm conduit.

I got myself a bending spring but when I do the bends I tend to get a crease on the inside
of the bend. I rub the conduit back and forth inside my hand to warm the conduit up prior to bending. Same process I did at college but never got the crease at college.

Could it be the spring?

This is the one I got. It says heavy gauge. So would I need light gauge?

It may seem a daft question Gaz, but you did make sure the spring was in far enough as I've seen this cause the conduit to crease in the past.

If it was from screwfix the brand would of been tower and heavy gauge. Ive never used it myself so cant say what the quality is like but as telectrix has said it could be the quality of the conduit as you have a heavy gauge spring. You might have to get the conduit really warm to get a good bend.

I think that could be true actually pete. Because the bend was right towards the end of the conduit tube there was no way I would have enough tube to work with to bend with my knee.

So i bent it around a metal handrail, about the same diameter as a deodorant can. Perhaps it was too tight a bend

Yep far to tight a bend from your description, sometime to form a critical bend you may have to sacrifice some tube.
