I was of the same opinion for several years, ....until i tried the equivilent Milwaukiee!! Makita are now definitly my second choice. If you get the chance, try one yourself, ..but you may just end up buying it though!!! lol!! ...Dam things are niegh on bomb proof too!!!

buy im aprenticed to has had a milwauke since 2007

had nearly daily usage since then.

2 batteries have died on him and one of them is running fine the other is starting to die

but 3 batteries in 5 years is not bad.

(other two were from another drill that someone broke somehow)

and its had nearly daily usage/charging for last 5 years

I was looking at that 18 volt Stanley fat max drill last week, seems a bit of a bargain for £99 with a 3 year warranty.

Has anyone tried one?

just got one from homebase £79.99! amazing price , metal chuck, metal gearbox and two lithium 18v 1.5 batteries, box is carp but drill is good, bought it just for down lights but its going to get used loads as its got a 3 year warranty ...

AEG is as stated before by others made by TTI who make Milwaukee, AEG and Ryobi, the AEG is very good stuff, it's basically the forgotten sibling, everybit as good as Milwaukee but as the other 2 brands get pushed harder AEG gets overlooked, well worth the money.
And thats not just coz i sell it lol

i`m currently using a millwauke with 2x li-ion batts, nice bit of kit at £220, but also have a dewalt 14.4 with 2x li#ion batts which cost£153 with 20% off from screwfix. also have a dewalt 18v with 1x nano batt  which cost £150 , but have found the millwauke the better kit

I bought milwaukee 18v with 2 batts =£210 I think.. But on heavy side but... Was able to buy sds bare unit, and now can buy a grinder.... It's good you can add . 3 yrs on tool and 2 years on battery's ..
