Evening all,

Was wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with voltage testers more on the "basic" side, by means, im a first, coming second year apprentice now and im looking a new one without all the fancy clamp meters etc attatched as i dont really need it just yet, i just want a decent one that will prevent me getting lit at some stage.

Thanks,

Mike.

Always used Martindale, the one with four neons.Does voltage indication, nothing else.
wont pick up ghost either..

unlike some of the neon ones...

i have a few AVIs kickin about...

i have a di-log ..and i swear by it....
i`v got a metrel one as well...load of crap....

got a martindale...and another martindale one for phase rotation...both decent kit with nice meaty cables on them for the sprung prods...

A basic fluke is a good value bet. I have a fluke t50, good reliable bit of kit for voltage and continuity indication. I think the t90 has replaced this now. Should be about £30.

I like the t5-500 and 1000 etc.

I dont trust the t90 I had one die on me after less than 2 months light usage.

ive got a kewtech kt200 from screwfix for £50 now.

unless your company says you must use a voltage indicator.

much more convienient to have one with continuity on it as well as they are the two most common tests you will use

if it is a proper company make sure it has gs38 approved leads etc, you might get in trouble otherwise

Went for di-log as mentioned by glenn. Combi-volt 2, lcd, continuity etc. Complies with GS38 as said by shanky. T5-1000 Looks a good job, but bit pricy for me at the minute.

Thanks for the suggestions folks!
