Hello.

Customer wants 6 bulkhead lights running down a garden wall about 15-20 meters long to illuminate the path. I plan to fit a switched fused spur from a socket in the dining room, through the wall into a weatherproof switch 1G 1W, then radial circuit for the lights.
Typical customer, wants it as cheap as possible and doesn't want to see the cables. Here's the questions:

1. What is the best cable to use for the job that can be clipped direct to the wall under the coping stones and then drop down to each light?

2. What is the switch rating of a weatherproof switch, will it be ok for 6 X 60w bulkhead lights?

Thanks in advance
Pete

I take it you have checked the protection on the socket that your looking at spurring off of?
The switch will more than likely be a 6 or 10 amp switch, would be fine for what your after....

i have seen loads of diffrent ways to wire lights up in garden some are ok using trunking and T boxes.. i have even seen t&e clipped to the fence ( big no no ) and i have even seen blue artic cable clipped as well yuk .. only way i would do it would be cond & T's and use t&e 1.5 i think the waterproof switchs are 3amp not to sure without looking on website .. or use swa 1.5 cable and waterproof gland boxes ..

Problem is using conduit/trunking etc is all adding to the cost that they can not afford. As the circuit is rcd protected, can I not clip the cable direct to the wall?

Ventcroft said that their 'noburn' cable is UV resistant (although they say that the black does fade with time). Nice to use solid core fire resiatant cable so easy to terminate in the lights. I find Hihtuff / NYYJ has too large an overall diameter to get into some lights.

When you find something nice to use that the customer also likes please let me know.
