Ventcroft have on thier web a Q&A file in there it recommends the use externally of either Black or White cable because eventually all fire cables which are for example Red will fade however Black or White sheaths are naturally resistant.

must have been your supplier. 1.5mm 3 core hituff is not exspensive. Shrouds on tight and grease will not stop the swa from rusting. Tried that. Hituff clipped to a wall will not require any more protection than swa and it is easier and quicker worked with.

Then try this, forget about shrouds, and use internal adhesive treated heat shrink tube!! I can guarantee you'll not encounter any corrosion to the SWA at the gland!! lol!!

We never use the standard SWA shrouds on any externally terminated SWA cables, ....Always the method above. Oh, and of course using external glands... lol!!

Screentuf is actually smaller diameter than Hi-tuf so looks like pyro but without the need for glands etc. This looks good in black or white depending on wall colour and can be used with P-clips (as per pyro) thereby looking the nuts without the expense of pyro. I think we pay around 80p / M so not bad for general outside stuff................. Or NYYJ, although this is larger but may well be cheap as it's like swa without the armouring which you wouldn't need as you aren't going underground.

Really?? So what sort of external IP rated wall light fittings do you use without the provision of a cable entry?? Or do you just rely on a rubber grommets?? lol!!
