Best network cable

Hi all!

Just wanted to get everyones opinion on the best CAT5 & CAT6 cable which you’ve used on jobs.

I have been using VueNet Cat5e and really like it, not had any problems and is at a decent price.

Let me know what you think

Stick to cable which is pure solid copper and not CCA or CCS (copper-clad aluminium/steel).
Cable with a nylon rip cord is annoying, ethernet cable doesn't need it. It causes an extra step having to cut it off.

For time saving, cable which has the pairs twisted in a 'left hand lay', rather than the usual right hand makes a surprisingly big difference if you have loads of them to do. When you separate the pairs to punch them down, it seems so much more intuitive to undo in an anti-clockwise direction. Right hand lay means you have to go clockwise to undo, which is unnatural, becomes fiddly and wastes time. HellermannTyton cable is left hand lay(and no rip cord).

Totally agree with the pure solid copper - have used a few in the past that wasn't and paid the price. That's one of the reasons I've started to use VueNet!

Never had an issue with the rip cord and would cut off if it wasn't needed

This is Belden, left hand lay...

(not a rip cord BTW, it's the drain wire)

The Vuenet cable is left hand lay - which I agree saves loads of time!
