Best sparks

Iv worked in France,Spain and Germany, and can honestly say the UK beats them hands down.I noticed in Spain some conduit work, they don't do bends, just straight pieces and when it comes to a bend it is stopped and the flexible cable they use just goes around the obstacle then carries on to the next straight run.

I heard it was Poland:
"They have a strong work ethic"
"They do the jobs British people won't do"
"They plug a vital skills gap"
etc.

Also they don't let themselves get bogged down with trivial matters such as health & safety, or regs.

Worked on a Kimberly Clarke factory in spain, they had a socket with an extension lead from it,the lead had no plug on it,the socket had 2 nails pushed in it and the flex was wrapped around the nails.

I don't know about best, but we were highly respected and sort after overseas, and have been for a good many years. Not so sure how long that will last, with the UK's present training levels dropping like a stone these days....

Don't get confused between Sparks and a countries standard installation methods. As noted earlier, ...on the continent, they don't use plastic conduit in the same way as we do, but then the cable they use is multi core, that don't really require any addition containment. They also stop the conduit 50 to 60mm before any enclosure and take the cable into that enclosure via a cable gland. If you see metallic conduit on the continent, it'll be in industrial installations or certain commercial premises....

UK but it seems to be on a slippery slope with watered down qualifications and a lack of real apprenticeships.

As for best sparks, I’ve caused quite a few.

We keep getting the europians shouting at us for our electrics and making us change things but when you get into europe whta i have seen is a disgrace by our standards i think we are pretty high on the list for being the best but agree with Tony could be on a slippery slope there are not many british industries left

Well I can tell you who aren't ................American. They apparently put men on the moon over 40 yrs ago, but still can't manage to design a socket outlet where the plug top dosen't fall out of it.

I take it, ...that where your working in Riyadh at the moment, is to US standards, or is it your accommodation? ...lol!!

There domestic wall accessories are a bit on the basic side i must admit, ....if not slightly on the big side for what they do... So what socket style have you found problem with the 115V or the 220V ?? Generally found the straight plug tops are a bit rear heavy, better to use the 90 deg angled type... Can't say i've known them to fall out completly though!!! lol!!!

It was slightly tongue in cheek mate, but be honest look at them !!! bare pins, about as much metal on them as a Korean car , and a connection capacity of if you look at them funny they fall out ............

No common is sense is prevailing here mate the BS 1363 Socket which would just have been used for 220v here is now the norm for most commercial/industrial builds.

Was doing a PIR the other day when a Belgian electrical engineer said he would fail it. Not due to the electrical safety but how scruffy the install was. (True, was scruffy install, but mostly, electrically sound). Was told you could not get away with in Europe.

Can't really comment on the main question, but are there any figures or a league table of deaths or accidents that may give an indication ?

Good installs = less stiffs, better sparks perhaps
