best way of connecting

trying to join new cable to existing cable 1.5 twin, will be located under floor boards what would you recomend.i would usualy use junction boxes but as using it for passing elecsa wondered what you thought.
was going to buy crimper from elecfix as they had one on offer for about 7 quid but none in stock don,t fancy there alternative for 30 ish and can get cheaper on ebay later.

I was speaking to my elecsa assessor yesterday about the hager/mf joint boxes.

They probably wouldn't fail you but you certainly wouldn't tick any boxes.

He was of the opinion that to truly comply with the regs ALL joints should be accessible.

It may be dinosaur thinking but that dinosaur is doing your assessment NOT you.

To be honest if you are really considering choc box I think you have bigger concerns....

That isn't because I am being stuck in my ways it's just a hell of a lot cheaper to use conventional joints that are accessible so long as the labour isn't excessive.

Regardless all joints defiantly need a box

The word "accessible" has been debated on here a number of times and many think it means that under a carpet, under underlay, beneath nailed down floorboards is accessible.

100% agreed here murdoch....accessable should meen accessable without the use of tools other than to gain entry to the enclosure....i cant see what some find hard about this...

they don't sell them at electricfix. want the job done in the next hour or so. only chock box or junction boxes? any comply with regs i might hve some wagos in car but no box would i need a box?
