What is the biggest cables you have terminated, there are some monstrous cables out there and I'm guessing some have been a nightmare, share that day :)

work with 300mm 5-Core quite often, 63mm swa gland, a lot of panels we install have 3 x 300mm run in trifoil going into them, the largest generator interface panel i have installed was 7 metres long and 2 metres high, as i remember the cable reels we got flown in were about 8 tons each, 25 ton crane to lift them onto the jacks and 30 blokes on the cable pulling team!

190 4 core.

Can't wait to find out Tonys answer. I would have said E54 but he don't pull cables !!!, he arrives on site on a Arabian "litter" carried by 4 five week wonders and then flogs anyone who dares to mention exporting PME's or RA values of 150 ohms.

You provide the ammo, he'll shoot you with it!

300mm2 4c's, and 630mm2 single core AWA's are my personal best. Unfortunately we managed to crack the monoblock with the latter (Oopsy).

Billy

14off 960mm 4 sector SolidAl. I'd rather bend scaffold poles!

This one was a nice job only 4off 600mm 4 sector SolidAl.

I only really done up to 125's.....once or twice a bit bigger but that's it......try getting that into a switch room and terminate it when its -6c outside and inside and the drum of cable has been sitting in the snow....usually only 2 or 3 people to try to get it in...

Now who's dishing out the insults?? lol!!!

Further, ...I've never been one to stand on the side lines when an extra hand is needed and believe it or not, i like getting in there, hands on so-to-speak!! The biggest cable i have helped pull in has to be 300mm 3 core 15/18KV grade MV SWA cables (about the overall size of a 4 core 630mm SWA cable) Far more of a problem, is when they have been pulled in, having to turn them, to get the core's lining up with the correct termination studs!! Anyone here that has had to turn the bigger cables WILL know what i mean!! ...lol!!!

Re: Biggest cable you guys have terminated

A couple of years ago we installed 3ph parallel 500mm copper / aluminium armoured singles for a data centre and back up generator. To make it even harder the install was mainly outside, in winter, on the coast of the Isle of Man. It was about a 25 metre run on ladder rack at high level then drop down to the switchgear and generators.
The only bonus was the weigh in once it was all terminated

240's or maybe a 300mm, I honestly can't remember, it's been awhile since I've actually been hands on with large cabling. Usually we start running parallel cables when the sizes get much bigger.
