BISF (British Iron and Steel Federation) prefab houses and main bonding

Carried out a couple of EICRs on BISF prefabs and on both there is no main bonding to the steel frame of the building.

My scheme technical helpline advised that main bonding was not required. Just wondered what people's thoughts are here?

These are NOT pictures of the actual lofts (the roof and walls have been replaced with modern materials), but give an indication of the layout. Neither property had loft lighting.

Last time I saw houses like that was in Twerton in Bath. Also on an EICR before a house purchase by a customer, place had loads of asbestos in various places, floor tiles, clad pipes and asbestos board up by guttering. glad he decided to not buy it as it needed a full rewire.

Not actual pictures I hasten to add, but also in Twerton. What's your view on the bonding requirement? Both have been rewired within the last 5-15 years, and neither have main bonding to the frame...

Thought as much it would be Twerton as we work on the same areas. Think there are arguments for and against depending how you come at it...
Have you carried out any measurements back to MET to check potential etc?
Look carefully, you may find original metal conduit in the walls that joined onto the frame and created a common earth path between frame, circuits etc back to the fuse board. may still be in situ.
Havent got GN8 to hand so cant check the wording now but carry out the test between MET and frame.
IS the house PME or TNS as I have heard of western power refusing PME on some metal framed properties.

Meant to add, just because the roof has been upgraded or modernised, be careful and wear PPE when in the loft spaces, can easily find old asbestos in them houses. not worth the risk.
a few years back they were cash only as no mortgage company would touch them, as they are cheap they are becoming student hmos now.
