can i use this free 6mm cable now to wire direct to fused spur 6mm cable
then run of fused spur 2.5mm cable to 2 double sockets .. from one to the other

so it be 32amp consumer 6mm cable to fused spur ,, then 2.5mm cable from fused spur to double socket ,, then spur to another double socket

any advice think it be a radial circuit

cheers

thanks for letting me join

eh? use a decent quality socket and you can. the outgoing would only need to be 4mm anyway and could possibly even be 2.5mm depending on situation.

Emm... About one week ago you were laying into Specs for dropping from 1.5 to 1.0 in his lighting circuit. In fact I think you said something along the lines of...

'Do you include a fuse at each reduction from 1.5 to 1.0? Only there's this regulation that requires a fuse at each reduction in cable current carrying capacity. Mixing cable sizes throughout a circuit like that is bad practice in my opinion.'

So which is it to be :winkiss:

Why not, a 32A radial will can end up being wired in 6mm rather than 4mm and they fit in decent twin sockets then.
MK is designed to take two 6mm just found this. I concede. :)
Terminal capacity:
Live, neutral & earth
3 x 2.5mm2
3 x 4mm2
2 x 6mm2 (standard)
(Dual earth terminals on list Nos.
K781, K2657, K2737, K2746, K2757)

yes rcd protected .. i wanna put 6mm cable in to a fused spur

then 2.5mm out of fused spur to 2x double sockets ...

im only asking as this 6mm cable is reduntant and saves me putting a 2.5 cable up stairs

just wanna know is it ok to do this cheers for all comments

so any advise appreicated thanks is the 32amp at consumer ok or should i change that to 20amp maybe its only gonna be running 2 double sockets for a loft so got a bit of a work shed

Ask yourself this....

How much current can the 2 double sockets pull through their leg of the circuit ?
What section of the circuit is the breaker protecting ?
What is the current carrying capacity for the cables you are using and what is their installation method ?
Do the fusing methods and sizes selected protect the cable ?

If you can answer all this you should have all your problems solved. If you can't you maybe shouldn't be doing this work.

Ah, I see. The op question is ambiguous, and I took it that he wanted to add a socket for a washing machine from and exiting switch fused spur. A...
