Hi all, trying to help my parents out again with the new house they have just moved into.

They have old style thermostats in each room which control the underfloor heating.

Here is the pic of what they look like :

They are wanting them updating so something more modern and was just wondering if it would be a case of matching the coloured wires on the back of the old thermostat to the correct terminals on the new one ?

Thanks very much for any help.

Really is an impossible question to answer that. I would take the Stat to a decent plumbing shop and get a look at a few of what they offer and their advise.

Whatever you do and take good note of this, when you go to disconnect the cable to remove that stat, MAKE A DRAWING OF WHERE EVERYTHING GOES, AND THE NUMBERS/LETTERS THAT THE CABLES CONNECT TO.

good advice from malcolm, there. all i can add is make sure it's isolated first

Thats great guys cheers, I will make a note of where the wires go etc.. for when fitting the new one.

a point to look out for is...make sure some muppet hasn't used a cpc as a phase conductor.
