Hi guys, I brought a lead on Rated people job was to install an external heater, external socket and and an internal socket, so I emailed them saying I would like to come and see exactly what was required, as I like to get it clear in my head of cable routes, where to get the feeds from, wether there is RCD protection and of course wether bonding is in place, they emailed back saying they would prefer if I could quote for the work and ccome prepared to complete the job, but I feel without looking at it
how do I know what is required?? WWill I need a chaser oval tube , clips, conduit, black flex, white flex, surface boxes flush boxes, crimps, go knows, what ddo peeps think, should I just give her a price per point and hope I take what I need?? I get the feeling she has the heater and outdoor socket

the leads are sold to 3 people, hence why i only go for the ones that haven't been brought yet as experience has taught me that if you are the first to quote you normally get the job, if customer wont allow you to quote or you cannot get in touch with custome then you can ask RP for a credit, which itself isnt a bad thing cos a credit is given in form of a free lead, I have had a couple of credits on leads which i only payed ÂŁ4-ÂŁ5 for and used them on bigger leads worth ÂŁ11- ÂŁ20, the joke is that the price of the lead is determined by the budget of the job, and that is set by the customer, so mrs smith wants to replace faulty bathroom extractor fan, she sets budget of ÂŁ500 cos that what she has in her savings account, which means lead price is ÂŁ40!!! and I am NOT going to pay ÂŁ40 just to get the chance to quote on a job i might not get and which will only get me my ÂŁ40 back!!!, other times it works well as people just put in a nominal amount so the lead is ÂŁ4.50, but this could be for a job that is worth a few hundred quid,

haha, this mornings developments........
ME:
More information is needed in order to quote "blind" if at all.
The electric wall heater, is this to be hard wired? or will it plug into the external socket? if hard wired where is the feed to be obtained?
Where is the feed for the external socket to be obtained?
when you say internal single socket is this next to an existing socket? near an existing socket? is it to be part of an extended ring main? or just a spur off of an existing circuit? would it be flush or surface mounted
you say the house was Re-wired, when was this? is there RCD protection on the circuits on which the proposed work is to take place?
Is the Earthing and bonding adequate as outlined in Reg 132.16 of BS7671?

Her:Okay - point taken .

Could you possibly come and survey tomorrow after 4.30 ?
