Blood from a stone sums it up thing are going to get tight real soon..the market is going to shrink and we will all be working for ÂŁ5 an hour while the smug gits get their wages just for ****n us all over.

Well that was to be expected :) Never get involved in a business that takes away profit from the energy companies let alone makes the pay us :p

Now what about that Green Deal?

Hmmm, read through that several times, thought I had grasped it, then came to the higher/middle/lower rate...
Number 14 page 5 " The higher rate applies to a relevant installation if neither the lower nor the middle rate applies to it".

Sorry, but if you have a choice of three and it is not two of them, what is left?
How, when, where, who decides what the rate is? or have I missed something??

My plain English interpretation is

Higher Rate
EPC D or above
(unless it's an unheated building, or one where an EPC is not possible, and isn't also supplying electricity to a building that should have an EPC)

Medium Rate
Installation owners who own 25 or more FIT installations that would otherwise be eligible for the higher rate.

Lower Rate
Buildings that don't meet the EPC D requirement.

On rereading that bit I spotted something I'd not known about. My plain English interpretation is

Higher Rate
EPC D or above

Medium Rate
Buildings where the EPC requirement doesn't apply
Installation owners who own 25 or more FIT installations

Lower Rate
Buildings that don't meet the EPC D requirement.

This is the first I'd seen of anything indicating that buildings that couldn't have an EPC certificate would only be eligible for the medium rate. DECC seem to have sneaked that one in below my radar, not sure if anyone else had spotted that before?

Bowlocks to REAL- This is where I come to get my info :)

Note the 'and' lurking at the end of 10.1.b, my reading is:

lower rate applies:
- where a building should have an EPC 'D' but hasn't got one (6)

medium rate applies:
- where owner has 25 or more installations and EPC 'D' is not a requirement or EPC 'D' is met
(10.1.a OR 10.1.b) AND (10.2)
- where owner has 25 or more installations and takes over ownership of a previously high rated install (12, 13)

higher rate applies:
- to everyone else (14)

The drafting of this is awful though (as usual). They seem to constantly tie themselves in knots.

I admire u lads who stic with this crap after april!! defo 1/2 man companies will be out of it!! Y dont u just BURN all this bull**** paperwork and stop ur subscriptions!!

Oh! just scanned it - is it better than we thought re july downgrading, i.e. is it to remain at 21p? Or is there some wording which I've missed which states that these figures could change?

In fact, reading (a little) more closely, I presume the july downgrading is still on. So, exactly what we expected no?
