well a single double socket is rated for 20A.
better luck next time.
;-)

What does it say on the manufactures mouldings on the back of the socket? Mine all say 13A. And I was always taught 13A per socket point regardless of the actual amount of plugs you can get in it (as that's only for convenience)

sigh , a double socket has 2 outlets , each capable of drawing 13A , giving a theoretical maximum of 26A but rated for 20A continous service.
i really didnt think there could be any confusion on this issue.
looks like i was wrong lol.

How about a boiler and smokes on the same circuit? At least people would notice if the circuit went down.....no hot water or heating. Saw this today.

Going back to the OP, the main issue I can see with running a boiler off lighting, in this case at least, is that power circuits now need to be a minimum of 1.5mm, in this case the lighting circuit was 1mm.

And yet - 0.75mm flex can be used (Table 52.3) for a specific appliance (subject to product standard) and/or any other application.

Does the reference to 'power circuits' in Table 52.3 just actually mean socket circuits?
After all, all circuits supply power to something.
