Hi Everyone , a bit confused here .
New Regs . state that an incoming Water or Gas main pipe need not be earth bonded if part of the incoming in in plastic ..

Does this also mean that Cross bonding of pipes in the house do not need to be Cross Bonded ? what would be the point of cross bonding if the pipes were not bonded at source ..

Re the Incoming pipe .. Surely it would not do any harm to ' Bond it Anyway '

Re the Cable clips .. Plastic is no longer allowed !
Where does one get the New style metal ones now ?
My Suppliers have not even heard of them !!

Look forward to you Replies

You should only main bond things that are extraneous ie that might introduce a potential into the equipotential zone. To determine whether things are extraneous the easiest way is to test to the supplier earth.
Bonding other things causes additional hazards which although are low risk are still unnecessary.
"Cross" bonding is describing how you feel when you're fitting a boiler and get cross because you have to fit about 6 pointless clamps under the boiler!

Bond or no Bond.... we've had this conversation before.

If he's wearing a suit, drinking dry martini shaken not stirred, and has a license to kill, then its Bond.
Anyone else is just a cheap imitation. Looking at you, Jason Bourne!

We used to use about 10 earth bond clips in a house,We bonded crazy, now it’s most probably only 1 ,maybe on the gas.

Is that from 15th/first 16th Edition days?
When I did my 16th, the tutor says, "Anyone with the last Red book, throw it away, NOW!" :)

Just had a biomass boiler and heat store installed and have a load of linked copper pipe work in a small plant room. All incoming pipework is plastic. Was wondering about bonding but a quick continuity check between copper pipes and MET showed 0.02 ohm so sort of assume it don’t need bonding as there must already be a good path via the electrical control units.

PME bonding is reqd as it has always been, (since the 1960s) that is, a bond of suitable size at the point of entry or near as practicable and after a gas meter, water/oil tap and any insulated insert. But we know that dont we?

Hmm take advice from the gas regulations with no electrical reasoning or theory to why we provide protective bonding or take the advice of the wiring regulations and use our training and our own understanding of why it’s required?
Hmmm
