Just a quick one, for those who have more experience and knowledge than I.
External gas meter, 22mm copper runs externally along wall around corner into kitchen also up the wall
and into landing for combi boiler. Water rises in kitchen in copper.
Question: Can you bond both services with one piece of 10mm earth cable, providing you do not break the cable at the first bonding clamp ? Do you bond the gas inside the kitchen even though it also runs outside
and up the wall ? or can you bond it in the meter cupboard and then run it along and into the kitchen for the water ? Please help, as I wish to finish as soon as possible and have a rest.
Many thanks, Pat

For a service pipe, the main bonding conductor should be connected as near as possible to the point where the service enters the building. The connection must be before any branched pipework and on the consumers side of any meter. If possible the connection should be made within 600mm of the meter outlet. Where the meter is outside, the bonding connection should be made at the point of entry of the service into the building. 544.1.2
Where a main bonding conductor loops in and out to connect to an extraneous-conductive-part, the conductor should be unbroken at the connection. 528.3.3

Hope this helps.

Good quote re regs there.

But I think the issue lies with th looney plumber / gas fitter.

With the pipe outside the property, if you were to bond the gas in the kitchen that would be after the branch. Taking the cable outside and connecting to the pipe then means external influences on connection an bonding clip.

Although the 600mm cant be achived, because pipe outside and pipes inside after branch, I would connect in this case in meter box. Know this was done away with several Editions ago but think this might be best option.

Anyone any thoughts?:)
