am currently doing a pir on a secondary school, in the toilets their is no cross bonding under sinks. Is this a code 2, or 4?. The DB which covers that area has no RCD protection for any circuits

There is no requirement for 'cross bonding' in toilets and the circuits only need RCD protection if they are buried in walls at depths of less than 50mm without earthed metallic sheaths/protection.

Graham, you've done the right thing asking the question but you really should know this stuff if you're doing periodic inspections-do you have a copy of BS7671:2008?

probably been talking to a gas fitter who thinks that everything metal should be bonded. i've even seen bonding from a cistern feed to it's outlet in a gents at a social club. turns out one of the committee is a retired spark whose last job was 15th edition.

but it does no harm, just a waste of cable....?

It's not so much that some unnecessary cable and clamps are used but the fact that the inspection/testing should be carried out by a competent person with an above-average knowledge of BS 7671:2008.

Bonding requirements are a very important part of a periodic inspection and should be second nature to a competent inspector.
