Hi all,

I have a question regarding main bonding and will try and explain the situation as best I can....

Water service pipe enters property at the front of the house and was bonded under the kitchen sink (located at the rear of the property), where it first appears from under the floorboards.

Kitchen has now been altered resulting in the main water supply being extended under the floor in plastic where it reappears in its new location in copper. So to summerise there is now approx 1mtr of plastic pipe before it first appears from under the floor.

The water main actually passes under the floor below the CU located in the hall. Is it acceptable to bond at this point, even though it will be generally unaccessible, especially after the hall carpet has been fitted.

All responses gratefully recieved.

That's a real assumption. The last two houses I worked on the stop cock could not be found!

In the mean time, how do you know the plastic pipe is only 1m long? I'm not sure wht the minimum recomended distance is (its all to do with the water conductivity in your area) but if the pipe is "insulated" then there is no requirement for main bonding (there may still exist a requirement for supplementary bonding).
