Bonding suspsended ceiling grid

Do you neeed to bond a metal suspended ceiling grid when it will be covered with plasterboard?

My colleague says no, as it is inaccessible (unlike if it was removable ceiling tiles), and therefore not an extraneous conductive part, but I say it should be bonded as it has cables running through it which may be prone to damage by plasterboard fixers, potentially livening up the grid. Even if you don't have to, I would think it would be 'best practice' to bond it, as the nearest part of it to the MET is probably less than a metre away.

As its unpainted and screwed together it should be quite conductive between its component parts, so I would take an earth off the nearest point to the MET.

You could link it to a CPC in one of the fittings.

Could do, or straight down the wall to the consumer unit, as I suggested in post #1

i'd like to see anyone achieve any sort of earth continuity with grid supports that just push together.

If parts of this metal ceiling support system is being used for cable containment, then it should, in all honesty be earthed, as Spin rightly stated....
