Can anyone help? Is a metal kitchen sink considered a extraneous conductive part when it's fed by plastic pipes?

not normally unless it's got metal waste . acid test is to IR test from sink to MET. if it reads >22kΩ, then you don't class it as extranoeus.

^^^^^ as above, though it's amazing how many Clerks of Works particularly in Councils etc who still look for a bond to metal sink units no matter the circumstances....and won't be told otherwise!

Don't think this will make it extraneous conductive part. Might make it exposed conductive part?

Depends on fitting even so if it exposed conductive of extraneous it would have to be bonded because of attachment

If it actually becomes an exposed conductive part, it would be earthed via the cpc of the cable supplying the appliance.

One of the problems and a major cause of confusion to those that don't know the criteria for bonding requirements. Is that most manufacturers of stainless steel sinks and commercial stainless steel tables and the like, STILL provide a marked designated bonding point!!!

The only circumstance in which I can see a metal sink being an ECP is if it is fixed to structural steel work within the fabric of the building.
If supplied by metallic pipes or wastes it will be the pipes/wastes that are ECP's NOT the sink.
